# SIMB vs Fortimus Mirror Item: Which monday.com Sync App Should You Pick? (2026)

> A fair, sourced comparison of Same Item on Multiple Boards (SIMB) by Pioneera and Mirror Item Multiple Boards by Fortimus: how each works, updates, subitems, columns, pricing, how items are counted, and the free plans.

**Last updated:** October 14, 2026. Prices and features change, so check both marketplace listings before you buy.

## The short answer

Same Item on Multiple Boards (SIMB) by Pioneera and Mirror Item Multiple Boards by Fortimus do the same core job: they put one monday.com item on several boards and keep its columns, updates and subitems in sync. Pick **SIMB** if you want the most installed app in this category, more items per plan and built-in tools to find and fix sync gaps. Pick **Fortimus Mirror Item** if you need many boards on a small plan, one-way sync per board or more subitem layouts.

<Note>
**Full disclosure:** this page is written by Pioneera, the team that builds SIMB. We kept it factual and linked every source so you can check it. Fortimus publishes its own comparison too ([fortimus.co/vs-same-item-multiple-boards](https://fortimus.co/vs-same-item-multiple-boards)). If something here is out of date, email [support@pioneera.io](mailto:support@pioneera.io) and we will fix it.

## Side-by-side comparison

| | Same Item on Multiple Boards (SIMB) by Pioneera | Mirror Item Multiple Boards by Fortimus |
| - | - | - |
| **How the item lives on each board** | SIMB adds the item to each board you choose and keeps them linked, so it works as one item: edit it on any board and every board shows the change. | Fortimus says it "creates editable items on your destination boards and links them for synchronization" and that they are "not independent duplicates". |
| **Updates (comments)** | Updates and replies sync to every board the item is on. Each person who posts must authorize SIMB once. You can stop updates from a board, or exclude chosen boards. | Turn on "Add Updates" and the existing thread comes along. New updates, edits and replies sync, posted as the author. Optional tag showing the source board. You can exclude chosen authors. |
| **Existing updates when you first share** | | Yes, per Fortimus. |
| **Subitems** | Subitems follow the parent item to every board automatically, with their columns and updates. On by default. You can stop subitems from a board. A recipe can add a subitem as an item on another board. | Subitems sync when "Add Subitems" is on. Can also put an item as a subitem, a subitem as a subitem, and one subitem under two parents. |
| **Columns** | Syncs when name and type match on both boards (case-sensitive). Supported: text, long text, numbers, status, date, people, dropdown, email, phone, rating, timeline, link, file. Not supported: formula, mirror, connect boards. AI columns sync output only. Automatic name-and-type matching; add missing columns directly on the destination board. | Syncs when name and type match. Formula and auto number columns are not synced. You can stop a single column from syncing for one item. |
| **Sync direction** | Two-way. | Two-way by default, one-way per board. |
| **See and fix sync problems** | Item Locations column (every board the item is on, one click to jump). Discrepancy Report finds out-of-sync values and applies the latest value. | "Where this item lives" table, sync dashboard, event-level audit log, admin-only settings access. |
| **Multi-level boards** | Supported. A regular board and a multi-level board can't be connected to each other yet. | Supported. |
| **Pricing model** | One flat price per monday.com account, no per-seat fees. | One flat price per monday.com account, no per-seat fees. |
| **How items are counted** | Per SIMB's pricing docs: each unique shared item counts once toward the item limit. Each connected board counts toward a separate board limit. | Each linked item counts once, however many boards it is on. Subitems do not count. No board limit. |
| **Free plan** | 10 items, 3 boards. Not time-limited. | 5 items, unlimited boards. Not time-limited. |
| **Paid plans start at** | $47/month billed yearly, or $97/month billed monthly (Basic: 500 items, 5 boards). | $37/month (Basic: 250 items). Marketplace plan data lists $74/month on monthly billing. |
| **Money-back / trial** | 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans (marketplace listing). | "14 days trial + Free plan available" (marketplace listing). |
| **Hosting** | Pioneera's own backend on DigitalOcean, Frankfurt (EU). Column values pass through in transit and are not stored. | monday code, monday.com's own app infrastructure. |
| **Security** | SOC 2 Type II report (March 2025). ISO 27001 audit in progress (September 2026). | Hosted on monday code; Fortimus notes the SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA certifications are monday code's. |
| **Marketplace** | "Best seller" badge. 9,588 installs since December 2023. 4.9 stars . | "Editor's choice" badge. 1,158 installs since July 2025. 5.0 stars (32 reviews). |

Install counts are from the public marketplace data on [apps-for-monday.com](https://apps-for-monday.com/apps/10000363/) (checked October 14, 2026). Fortimus facts are from [fortimus.co/apps/mirror-item](https://fortimus.co/apps/mirror-item), [fortimus.co/pricing](https://fortimus.co/pricing) and the [Fortimus marketplace listing data](https://apps-for-monday.com/apps/10000876/).

## How items are counted (and what it costs)

This is the biggest point of confusion between the two apps, so here are the facts.

* **What Fortimus says:** Fortimus's comparison page says SIMB "counts it once per board, so 1 item on 3 boards = 3".
* **What SIMB's docs say:** "Each unique shared item counts toward your item limit, and each connected board counts toward your board limit." The usage page adds: "each unique item that you've shared using SIMB counts once toward your item limit." ([pricing](/billing/pricing), [usage limits](/billing/usage-limits))

So the real difference is not items, it is **boards**. SIMB limits how many boards take part in sharing on each plan. Fortimus does not.

### Worked example: 200 items, each on 3 boards

Using Fortimus's own example and each vendor's published limits:

| | SIMB | Fortimus Mirror Item |
| - | - | - |
| Items used | 200 (limit on Basic: 500) | 200 (limit on Basic: 250) |
| Boards used (if all items use the same 3 boards) | 3 (limit on Basic: 5) | 3 (no limit) |
| Plan that fits | Basic, \$47/month billed yearly | Basic, \$37/month |

Both fit on their entry plan. Fortimus is \$10/month cheaper; SIMB leaves room for 300 more items.

### Where each app costs less

* **Many items, few boards:** SIMB includes more items per plan (500 on Basic vs 250).
* **Few items, many boards:** Fortimus is cheaper. For example, an agency sharing 200 items across 30 client boards fits Fortimus Basic ($37/month), but on SIMB it needs the Business plan ($299/month billed yearly) because of the 50-board limit.

## When to choose which

**Choose Same Item on Multiple Boards (SIMB) if:**

* You want the app most teams use for this job. SIMB has the "Best seller" badge and about 8 times the installs of Mirror Item.
* You share a lot of items across a handful of boards (team board, client board, master board).
* You want to see and fix sync gaps yourself, with the Item Locations column and the Discrepancy Report.
* You want to preview column matching before you share, and create missing columns in one click.
* You want one fixed price for the whole account with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

**Choose Fortimus Mirror Item if:**

* Your items need to live on many boards (more than SIMB's board limit for your budget).
* You need one-way sync, for example a client board that must not write back.
* You need unusual subitem layouts, like one subitem under two parents.
* You prefer an app hosted on monday code.

**Choose neither (use native Connect Boards + Mirror columns) if** you only need to *see* a few fields from another board. See [how to show the same item on multiple boards](/guides/show-same-item-on-multiple-monday-boards).

Both apps have free plans. The best test is to install one, share a real item to your real boards, then edit it from both sides and check updates, subitems and your automations.

## What monday.com says

monday.com does not support one item on many boards natively. On the community request "Item lives on multiple boards", monday's Shannon Thao wrote that "it's not currently on our roadmap" and pointed users to workarounds, listing "Same Item Multiple Boards" first, with Mirror Item Multiple Boards and others after it ([source](https://community.monday.com/feature-requests/post/item-lives-on-multiple-boards-MylxXEVdGhZeSmn)).

## What customers say

* "Does exactly what the name says, automations are super easy to set up and are a life saver." (SIMB review, March 2026)
* "It works exactly as it should. But the real signifier with this application is the customer support." (Mirror Item review, March 2026)

## Switching from Fortimus to SIMB (or the other way)

Your boards, items and columns belong to your monday.com account, not to the app. Uninstalling a sync app stops the syncing; it does not delete items. To switch:

1. Pick one board pair to start with.
2. Make column names and types match on both boards.
3. Turn off the old app's sync for that pair. Don't run two sync apps on the same boards at once.
4. Share the items with the new app, using [batch actions](/features/batch-actions) for many items.
5. Edit from both boards and check updates and subitems. Then move to the next pair.
