The short answer

Same Item on Multiple Boards (SIMB) by Pioneera and Mirror Item Multiple Boards by Fortimus do the same core job: they put one monday.com item on several boards and keep its columns, updates and subitems in sync. Pick SIMB if you want the most installed app in this category, more items per plan and built-in tools to find and fix sync gaps. Pick Fortimus Mirror Item if you need many boards on a small plan, one-way sync per board or more subitem layouts.
Full disclosure: this page is written by Pioneera, the team that builds SIMB. We kept it factual and linked every source so you can check it. Fortimus publishes its own comparison too (fortimus.co/vs-same-item-multiple-boards). If something here is out of date, email support@pioneera.io and we will fix it.

Side-by-side comparison

Install counts are from the public marketplace data on apps-for-monday.com (checked October 14, 2026). Fortimus facts are from fortimus.co/apps/mirror-item, fortimus.co/pricing and the Fortimus marketplace listing data.

How items are counted (and what it costs)

This is the biggest point of confusion between the two apps, so here are the facts.
  • What Fortimus says: Fortimus’s comparison page says SIMB “counts it once per board, so 1 item on 3 boards = 3”.
  • What SIMB’s docs say: “Each unique shared item counts toward your item limit, and each connected board counts toward your board limit.” The usage page adds: “each unique item that you’ve shared using SIMB counts once toward your item limit.” (pricing, usage limits)
So the real difference is not items, it is boards. SIMB limits how many boards take part in sharing on each plan. Fortimus does not.

Worked example: 200 items, each on 3 boards

Using Fortimus’s own example and each vendor’s published limits: Both fit on their entry plan. Fortimus is $10/month cheaper; SIMB leaves room for 300 more items.

Where each app costs less

  • Many items, few boards: SIMB includes more items per plan (500 on Basic vs 250).
  • Few items, many boards: Fortimus is cheaper. For example, an agency sharing 200 items across 30 client boards fits Fortimus Basic (37/month),butonSIMBitneedstheBusinessplan(37/month), but on SIMB it needs the Business plan (299/month billed yearly) because of the 50-board limit.

When to choose which

Choose Same Item on Multiple Boards (SIMB) if:
  • You want the app most teams use for this job. SIMB has the “Best seller” badge and about 8 times the installs of Mirror Item.
  • You share a lot of items across a handful of boards (team board, client board, master board).
  • You want to see and fix sync gaps yourself, with the Item Locations column and the Discrepancy Report.
  • You want to preview column matching before you share, and create missing columns in one click.
  • You want one fixed price for the whole account with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Choose Fortimus Mirror Item if:
  • Your items need to live on many boards (more than SIMB’s board limit for your budget).
  • You need one-way sync, for example a client board that must not write back.
  • You need unusual subitem layouts, like one subitem under two parents.
  • You prefer an app hosted on monday code.
Choose neither (use native Connect Boards + Mirror columns) if you only need to see a few fields from another board. See how to show the same item on multiple boards. Both apps have free plans. The best test is to install one, share a real item to your real boards, then edit it from both sides and check updates, subitems and your automations.

What monday.com says

monday.com does not support one item on many boards natively. On the community request “Item lives on multiple boards”, monday’s Shannon Thao wrote that “it’s not currently on our roadmap” and pointed users to workarounds, listing “Same Item Multiple Boards” first, with Mirror Item Multiple Boards and others after it (source).

What customers say

  • “Does exactly what the name says, automations are super easy to set up and are a life saver.” (SIMB review, March 2026)
  • “It works exactly as it should. But the real signifier with this application is the customer support.” (Mirror Item review, March 2026)

Switching from Fortimus to SIMB (or the other way)

Your boards, items and columns belong to your monday.com account, not to the app. Uninstalling a sync app stops the syncing; it does not delete items. To switch:
  1. Pick one board pair to start with.
  2. Make column names and types match on both boards.
  3. Turn off the old app’s sync for that pair. Don’t run two sync apps on the same boards at once.
  4. Share the items with the new app, using batch actions for many items.
  5. Edit from both boards and check updates and subitems. Then move to the next pair.
