The Connected Boards column is now fully supported in Same Item Multiple Boards. When you add a Connected Boards column to two boards and link them together, SIMB syncs items across those boards automatically — and you gain the ability to layer Mirror and Formula columns on top, unlocking data-display capabilities that go beyond standard SIMB syncing.

What this enables

Once the Connected Boards column is configured between two boards, you can:
  • Sync items automatically — any item linked via the Connected Boards column stays in real-time sync across both boards
  • Add Mirror columns — pull specific column values (such as Status, Date, or formula results) from the source board and display them on the target board
  • Work around Formula column limitations — since SIMB doesn’t natively sync Formula columns, you can use a Mirror column to display formula results from another board without recreating the formula logic

Set up Connected Boards with SIMB

1

Add a Connected Boards column to both boards

Go to your first board and add a new column. Select Connected Boards as the column type and give it a name — for example, “Project Link”. Then open your second board and add a Connected Boards column with the exact same name (“Project Link”). The column names must match for SIMB to recognize them as linked.
2

Manually link the boards in each column's settings

On your first board, open the settings for the “Project Link” column and select the second board as a connected board. Then switch to the second board and do the same — open the “Project Link” column settings and connect back to the first board. Once both sides are linked, sync starts automatically and any connected items will update across both boards in real time.
3

(Optional) Add a Mirror column to pull data from the source board

If you want to display specific data from the connected board, add a Mirror column to your target board. Configure it to pull the value you need — for example, a “Date” column or a “Sales” formula result. The Mirror column reflects changes from the source board automatically.
If your Connected Boards column isn’t syncing, check three things: both boards are manually linked to each other in their column settings, the Connected Boards column has the exact same name on both boards, and the correct boards are selected under each column’s settings.

Display formula results across boards

The Formula column is not natively synced by SIMB, but you can replicate formula results on another board using the Connected Boards and Mirror column combination. Set up the Connected Boards column as described above, then add a Mirror column on your target board and configure it to reflect the formula column from the source board. The result displays on the target board and updates automatically whenever the formula value changes. For a full walkthrough of this workaround, see How to Share the Formula Column Between Boards.
