The Shared Boards 🔒 column lets you share an item directly from your monday.com board. Click the item’s cell to choose a workspace, board, and group. Board-name chips in the column show where the item is shared.

Before you start

  • Install Same Item Multiple Boards in your monday.com account.
  • Make sure you have access to the destination board and can add items there.
  • If SIMB asks you to authorize the app, complete the authorization before continuing.

Add the column

1

Open the Column Center

Open the board where you want to use the column. Click + to add a column, then open monday.com’s Column Center.
2

Find Same Item Multiple Boards

Search for Same Item Multiple Boards and add its column to your board. The column appears as Shared Boards 🔒.

Choose Add to board on the Shared Boards card.

Add the column separately on each board where you want to use it. You can add it before sharing your first item. Adding it from the Column Center is the opt-in; there is no account setting that automatically adds Shared Boards to your boards.

Fill the column for existing shared items

After adding the column to a board that already has shared items, open the Same Item Multiple Boards board view, go to Settings, and click Revalidate for the Shared Boards column. This fills or refreshes the board-name chips for existing sharing connections. Add the column first: Revalidate does not create it.

Share an item to another board

1

Click the item's Shared Boards cell

Find the item you want to share, or create a new item. Click its cell in Shared Boards 🔒. The destination picker opens directly.
2

Choose the workspace

Select the workspace containing the destination board.

4

Check the result

The same item is shared between Task PMO and Board 2.

To share the item to another board, open its Shared Boards 🔒 cell again and choose another destination.

Understand what the column shows

SIMB maintains the board-name chips as the item’s sharing connections change. The column gives you visibility into those connections while you work in the board. The column is a way to start sharing and see shared boards. Which item values sync still depends on your column setup. See automatic column matching and Supported Columns.

Shared Boards and Item Locations

SIMB also has an Item Locations column, which displays item locations and provides navigation to them. Shared Boards 🔒 is the column you add from the Column Center to open the workspace, board, and group picker directly from an item row. Both columns can coexist on the same board. The Item Locations settings described in its guide apply to that separate column.
